What is your best suggestion for using Press Releases to get radio/TV news media to call you for an interview?

 When it comes to press releases , two things are important.  First, you must have an effective resource box.  At the bottom of your press release you should have complete contact information where people can get in touch with you, including a telephone number that you actually answer!  After all, you want the media to be able to get in touch with you.  If you make it difficult by sending them to a voicemail or email online, they will move on to the next expert that’s easy to find.

The second element of an effective press release that gets you media attention and interview is timeliness.  One of the biggest mistakes that people make is they only have one or two press releases.  Media is always interested in what’s happening right now.  So if you’re an expert on parenting, make sure you send a press release every time a teen actor gets into some trouble.  If you’re a financial expert, fax your press release to the local tv or radio station if they are talking about the rising cost of living.  Thing of your press release as a living breathing document that reaches out and grabs potential media interviews by the hand and says, “talk to me, I know what you want”.
